Post subject:  methanol injection

I was routing through some posts here and found some people running methanol injection with their turbo slants. I am running a procharger on my duster and recently went from 8lbs of boost to 12lbs with a water injection kit. Right now i'm running washer fluid at the moment are you guys running pure methanol or mixes? Does your fuel curve fatten up quite a bit or no? Also what afrs are you guys running? I just installed a WBO2 in the car and I'm seeing right around 12.5.

i can`t tell you f/a ratios, but i started running a cooling mist system on my 4-71 blower and have a mix of 50/50 windshield washer fluid and methyol hydrate. i started with 800cc per/min with 5psi boost,15degs timing and increased it to 1000cc per/min 5psi boost and 18degs timing with pump gas 91 octane.

I'm using 100% meth in my turbo application with 21+ psi. I'm using a 7gph nozzel. I can't say for sure how much it helps the afr but it does not hurt with the high octane rating of meth. It also adds some huge cooling properties as well. After a dyno run the carb hat is way cold to the touch.

Currently running 100% meth with a 14gph nozzle and 25psi boost. AFR is around 11.5. Switching from 50/50 to 100% dropped my afr 1.1 points. I'd never go back to the mix. Goodluck.

Is there anyone running a knock sensor in a boosted application, if so what did you use parts wise and where have you placed the sensor on the engine. I was looking into this because i'd like to really maximize my timing curve as well. Currently I'm at 20deg total timing and 14 initial. Still have some tuning to do with the extra boost. One other question is about running a MSD boost timing master are any of you guys running these? I just would like some feedback if so because I was also considering one

Sorry, can't help on these. I have the timing set at 19* initial. Vac advance is hooked up but it retards back to 19*under boost conditions. Like Turbo66valiant, I shoot for a 11.5:1 afr under full throttle.

I tried running a MSD boost timing master, a couple of years ago. I used the separate unit with a MSD 6a. When I hooked it up I had erratic tach operation, which I have not been able to cure, so I have not run it.

No MSD and knock sensor for me. I have a dist out of a mid 80's computer controlled car w/o the internal weights. Around 21* initial and 16* total. I get the spread by using the MP Orange box which pulls the timing back 5* from 4000 rpm and up. Kinda Hillbillysh but it works.

Say, have you run this car at the track yet?

Once I get my slant six project back up and running, I intend to tune it on a chassis dyno. While I intend to run without a knock sensor, I will be using a clip-on knock sensor with a set of headphones for making sure I don't wander into detonation while tuning. I'd probably put it at the rear of the cylinder head.

I had an MSD BTM that I bought secondhand - however, it was broken when I got it so I don't have much to say about its effectiveness. At this point I've gone so overboard with electronics on the Dart that the BTM would be redundant.

do the orange box have a built in retard at that rpm? i never knew that, are the chrome and gold the same?

I haven't had a chance to run it down the track at 12lbs of boost yet. I did get it dialed in pretty good without the WBO2 at 8lbs and no water injection. My best time was 13.47 @102mph and a blown head gasket that ended the day. When I got the WBO2 installed I found I was leaning out on the big end a little, so with more tuning running 8lbs should have managed quicker times. When I get it dialed in at 12lbs I'm hoping for solid 12s.

Never had a gold box and the one chrome box never did it. Just the orange ones. Good for boost but not for NA.

What size of Procharger do you have and do you have an intercooler? Tell alittle more about your car. A friend of mine put one on his 440ci Challenger and ran low 9's w/ 10 psi of boost from mid 10's NA. He has an F1. Got any pics?

The procharger is a P1Sc there are some pics and specs on my setup at

I am not running a intercooler just the water injection which I set to turn on at 4psi boost
