Hi, I'm installing the OD A833 into my 68 charger and the flywheel hole is too small. I was told this flywheel came with the original three speed tranny. Apparently not  . It does have 122 teeth and is freshly resurfaced! Anybody need one?

Anyway, I need the bigger holed flywheel. What years should I be looking at? I saw on a search that they changed the size in 68. Am I correct that I should be looking at 69 and newer?

Also the clutch I bought is for the original 3 speed. Will it fit?

Thanks!

John D

'68 is the year that they changed. Your flywheel has to be a '67 and older. :D

So it was 68! Right on, I'll look at 69 and later vehicles.

Don't know where mine came from, it came with the car but was not installed on the car. We took out an automatic transmission to put in the A833. It came with a 3 speed manual originally, and it came to me with one in the trunk :) The flywheel came with it also, which is why I assumed it would fit.

Thanks for the info. Still looking for a flywheel!

John

If you can't find the correct flywheel, I'm pretty sure a machine shop can enlarge the hole in your flywheel. The bolt pattern is the same.

That was going to be my next question. I have received a pm from a member who has what I need, and he needs this flywheel. Hopefully the swap will go ok. Shipping is expensive, and the flywheel is heavy!

Thanks for the reply,

John

A second here for USPS. Lots cheaper than UPS and it probably won't be broken when it gets there. :D

USPS Priority flat rate boxes, have been real good for me, also. Been getting stuff from the west coast in 2-3 days. UPS and FEDEX would take 5-7 days, and cost more.

Excellent info!

You know I should have thought of using the post office myself, I have had a lot of luck with them as well. Shipping times do seem a lot shorter. We ship everything UPS at work and that's what was stuck in my head I guess.

UPS estimates $21 to ship the flywheel to Connecticut, so the flat rate box seems like a winner.

Thanks again!

Worked just like you said Frank, $14.65 total. Thanks for the advice!
