I'll be mounting my Edelbrock 500 with the secondaries facing the driver side fender, thus it will be sitting 90 deg. from where the original carb set. I'm still deciding whether I'll use a cable (Lokar maybe?) or make a rod linkage with a 90 deg link in it somewhere. The question is, what is used for a throttle "stop" so when you mash all the way down on the pedal, you don't break the carb linkage? Tell me if this is a bad idea: I was thinking of simply putting a (medium stiff to stiff) spring in-line in the linkage to where when I stepped on the pedal, the throttle would open, and once I got to the end of the throttle throw (at the carb) the spring would take the extra pedal throw. Obsiously, I would try and get the cable or rod linkage as close as I could in terms of pedal travel matching throttle travel, and only have the spring take up the last tiny bit of slack there may be. Any other ideas, preffered methods? Thanks, Stephan |

Hello, I started out with the Eddy and the rod type linkage that came on my '64d100. I decided I wanted the rod, so came to the same conclusion you did....90 degrees or turn carb 90 degrees. I mounted the Eddy so the linkage was on the drive side, rather than what you are proposing. Nontheless, I set the length of the rod by cutting the end off the original rod, then adding a hexagonal splice link and threading both ends of the rod where I cut it. The threaded splice can be had in different lengths, and you can use other rods threaded to get the exact length you want. I am visualizing your 90 degree set, too. With the spring you are adding and with careful adjusting of rod length by moving your pedal to the floor and setting from there, it will work just fine and not hurt the carb. I never could figure out a way to use a cable even with a cable pedal in hand because a cable needs a right angle too. Never had a seconds trouble with the rod though.
