I ran across this today. Thought I'd let everyone know. It's a kit by TSM, www.tsmmfg.com, that uses 11" vented discs, cady eldo calipers with parking brakes.. see the thread on Moparts.com for details. It ends feb 14th I think.. $207 without calipers (get those at the junk yard or generic auto parts stores)..Skip at TSM is the guy to talk to..

Wow, that opened up some questions from me. If it fit small bolt pattern instead of big bolt pattern I'd be all over it. I would put them on my 68 valiant but the 8-3/4 i got is small bolt pattern.

Hey Matt,

Did you pick one of these up, or did you already tool up and make your own kit? Looks like a pretty good deal to me, especially since I'll have to have parking brakes again for NC inspection...

Cheers,

Lou

I almost bought them. Called and talked to the guy. Very helpful. I'm not a big fan of sliding calipers with p-brakes, so I think I'll finish doing it my own way with fixed calipers. But I agree, it does look good, and should function quite well. The cady calipers are not cheap, especially if you don't have cores. Expect $50-$80 core charges. So it's worth while to go junkyarding first.

TSM also sells a pinion p-brake kit, kind of a street rod thing, that mounts a small disc on the pinion yoke and mounts a mechanical caliper off the snubber mounts, would give a real solid p-brake if you decided to use different calipers at the wheels..

Call them up, they'll drill other bolt patterns, and I doubt it would cost much more. I'd guess $20-$30, but you should call and check first..

I don't think just redrilling the rotors will do it. The ends of the axles are 1/2" shorter on the small bolt rears. That would move the rotor back into the caliper bracket wouldn't it?

I didn't know that. I knew the brake guys mention mopars as having either 2.36 or 2.72" offset from the housing flange to the face of the axle flange. I bought my 5x4.5" axle from Moser, so I don't know how they compare to the shortend C-Body axles. My ofset measuers more like 2.42, and the guy at TSM thought that was fine. Also important is the drum register diameter. My axles are 3.06, and I guess the OEM mopar axles are smaller.. I'd say take a few measurements and call the guy at TSM and ask him..

My setup is weird. I machined out the register dia and enlarged the bolt holes on some explorer discs, and I'm just about to order some wilwood superlites (more ridged than the dynalites most kits come with).. When I get them, I'll place them on the rotors where I like them, apply air pressure to the caliper to make it stay in place. Make some measurements, finish my mounting brackets, and then do the plumbing. Not sure which caliper I want for the front yet, those 6piston guys look cool, but they're $300 each. The same piston area can be found in their Superlite III 4pistons for $100 less.. I'll do some pictures when it's done..

Hey Folks,

I just ordered the TSM kit yesterday for $208 + shipping. They are using the '83+ Lincoln rotors again - 11.25" X 1" vented. I haven't decided on calipers yet, but maybe the Wilwood version of the GM metric.

Thanks for the tip, Matt,

Lou
