Which way does the distributor rotor turn in a slant six?

Also, what year did the electronic distributors start?

Slant six distributors turn clockwise. Electronic ignition became standard in 73 (I think...)

Reed's picture shows the weights and springs for a points distributor, without the 'governor'/limiter... the EI mechanism is similar, but has posts that are slightly adjustable for the advance springs, and you have a long looped primary spring instead of two full wound springs...

FYI, the EI vacc. can is a different beast than the points vacc can in how the armature is positioned.
