I have started work on a project that i think can be under 2000 without driver. Can it be done ,anyone want to share their weights. Door cars only ,no roadsters ,dragsters .I am not going to say the body style i am working on ,but traditionally these are considered heavy .(not an a body)Thanks.

Rumor had it that at least one of the 2 Arrows in the Slant series had to add weight to make the 2000# minimum.

I believe you're right 'Zilla. I think Dale's was around #1,950 or so at one point. Didn't Seymour get his Valiant really close to #2,000 as well?

The one i am working on has fiberglass doors, one piece front end (18lbs.)all lexan no dash ,only necessary items, small fuel cell up front, Ladder bar ,coil overs front and rear ,pinto rack with lt. brakes. My 9 second cuda is 2750 with driver and i am sure there is 600 easy lbs to remove since my car has a certified cage, big block and dana rear.I am going to weigh this thing next week and see where we are.The one i am building also has a full cage but i am removing none critical bars to save weight. Now i need some hp.

IIRC, Seymour had the blue car around 2100#, but it wasn't safe to drive.

One of the Arrow's was supposedly at 1800 w/driver, but it was a CM lower chassis.

My Daytona is currently around 2400# with a small block. I am going to try and get some more weight out of it too. It is all steel except for the hood. It does have an aluminum dash in it.

My 69 Dart is at 2400 lbs, with out driver certifed scales at Bristol. I think I could cut 200lbs more off when I get fired up again. Dales Arrow was under 2000 lbs but then things get muddy when you ask the real weight.I do know how much weight he added to the car to set a national record but cant say. Thanks Ron Parker :D

2 things you can almost gaurantee a racer will lie aboot if his car is fast.

1. What it weighs.

2. How stock the motor is.

Funny you should say that, Reed. I have this off-the-wall idea for building an Isetta as an early 60's style altered. Yes, slant-powered.

Ya got a body shell available cheap?

Roger

Hey Wayne ,its a secret. Dont come over snooping,we are going to sneak up on the Erickson boys with some real ets. Actually I am impressed at the number of projects under developments in the west .Traditionally all the go fast guys were on the other side,I think we will see several cars in the 12s and maybe quicker.I even have Glen talked into about 50 more hp.

No. I have never even seen one in person. If you built oneout of a three wheeled chassis I don't know if you could pass the tech inspection at a race track.

Sergio: I have my "ninga" outfit on and now just have to get by your litlle "guard dog"...I will bring a couple of doggie bones to keep his attention..Yes, there are several much faster cars in the making over the winter. Maybe someone could start a winter "blog" like we did for the Redding races: Lets start it off with possible 12-14 second cars being built over the winter for the Killer Bee Racing Team:
1- Sergios "secret project"
2- Andrews "junk yard/skull and crossbone excpress" with a really bad boy new motor
3- WB with his 198 project
4- Dana with his new motor
5- The Fox project (Arrow) from Oroville
6- CJ new project
7- Glen moving to 14's with much more power, maybe a altered wheelbase car.
8- PJ with less turns on the throttle stop..She ran low 15's last year but this car will go alot..alot faster
9-Fopar may be Mopar now as has in working on a early lightweith 63'
10- Doug Powere is now retired and will be working on a 13 second 170 powered car...Good..there will finally be someone with another 170...
11- Josh with his Arrow? project..
12- David with new roller rockers...should be 13 second car again..

Sorry if I forgot anyone..Please add to this list with full details...
CJ..Can you set up like before?

Off to get my night binocs cleaned off and then headed to Sergios...have to see if my $1.00 bet has made any interest over the past few months..
