I have followed NHRA stock elimnator cars since the late sixtys. But more to the dark side of things (GM). How many slant six cars do the forum members know of current and past? Pictures, Specs,Details. Unclassified info on Mike Jeffrey's car would be cool. Any combos that could be competive now? |

Mike's car is very competitive now. Mike is an old stock racer from waaayyy back. (The Demon that Mosbek's own is his old car) He has run right on the record with the Dippy, and has a few tricks left. Paul Maravitz (SP) was running a 1bbl Duster. Not sure how compeitive he ever got it. I used to get pictures from a guy in FL who was building a Mirada that looked promising. I haven't heard from him in years though. 2bbl F or M body seem most promising.

The 1960 Valiant with the "Daytona" Hyper Pak motor was allowed to run in stock class and was very competitve back in the day. Used to run in C/S when that class was 17# per HP and would typically turn high 15s with the old pin syncro three speed and 13" tires. That was good enough to win the class at the Nationals in 1960-62, I think the main competition was 55 Chevys with the 180HP 265 motor. I believe this combination including high compression pistons is still acceptable but it now would probably fit into R or T/S where you need to run low 13s to be competitve. Many advances have been made since the early 60s, and the rules are much more liberal, but that would be a tough nut to crack. Charlie Schmid had the best Slant 6 stocker ever with his 1965 170 automatic that fit into Z/SA perfectly until they changed the rules. He won a lot of hardware with that one which he still has down in Florida. |

I don't know about that. There have been several real good stockers, Meril Brunner, being one. Though mine was pretty durn good. Got torn down many times. If the powers that be ever allow slants to run at a 25 lbs/hp break, I could put that car back on the track.

hello Charrlie_S. Can I get your input at FABO. Small Block and a few members are going to build a 12 sec / 225. and I feel like we need your input. here is the thread Charrlie_s, and I really think you can give the info we need and do it right and what we need to do to the head and matching up everything correctly, This will be a tailored car and would like to know if a 904 will do it for us. if not let us know if you have the time. We are sending the 225/ in this week to be checked and cleaned up. I hope I have not stepped on any toes here, I told Small Block that you are the man I would be asking help from. http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/sho ... hp?t=49279 Or my e-mail is rollinridgemike@yahoo.com. 66aCuda has his hands full with the three girls and his home, So I hope I don't hurt his feelings by not asking him. Charrlie_S we need your input when you get a chance sir. Your Arkansas friend Mike S. |

I race out of mission B.C, the 72 duster in stock eliminator trim (V/SA) ran 15.40s on a 15.80 index. That engine is in a 1980 aspen wagon now so I can run it with the two barrel setup. I've been driving a 340 cuda in F/SA for a friend the last two years so the wagon has been parked but I plan on taking the V/SA record away from the chevy boy's this summer. |
