Post subject:  A change in timing

Its a change in the springs or vaccuum advance pod on the distributor to something that is not 'stock'...if done right the recurve should be a closer match to your actual engine build and driving habits, usually if successful it will give better mileage and/or power.
There are a few long discussions in the past on 'things' to do, and there are a couple of us with Sun distributor machines to be able to 'tailor' a curve for people.

Look for Doc's post that has the manual for doing the recurve. I consists of four .jpg files. Copy them and read them till it makes sense. If yo can't find them in the search function for "distributor recurve", send me your email.

It is necessary to buy a kit of springs?

Post subject:

No. You can go to a junkyard and get springs and governor and vacuum advance pods out of other Chrysler products, even v-8s.

so i can usea two lights springs in the governor?

Post subject:

Yes, but it would probably make your car run very poorly. No one will be able to tell you exactly what springs or governor to use. You must determine this on your own through measurement and testing.

You really need to spend the time to read the different threads on recurving your distributor carefully.

You will have to determine whether this option is even available, in some areas you might have a junkyard that deals with old iron... my local junkyards are now making it a policy to just crush old iron when it comes in...you will be looking for a car in the pre-mid 80's configuration for springs in the dizzy... by about 1984 most cars and trucks had ESC and no springs in the dizzy... if you can find a yard with lots of 70's mopars
that will = jackpot.

If you are too novice and can find out:
1) rpm at cruise (we could figure this out with your tire size, rear-end ratio)
2) using a vacc. gauge while you drive, find out your readings at idle, cruise in town, cruise on the highway, and you reading when you 'step on it'....
There are a couple of us who do EI recurves and can 'work' something up for you at a nominal fee+core type deal....
You'll also have to let us know if you have a 1 or 2 barrel carb.

Yes, but it may advance faster than you need and cause some 'ping' or lack of mileage/performance due to the curve mismatch...that curve is better suited to mild-performance drag racing....(2 light stock springs)

We used to have a couple of guys from Argentina on the board. I know not really close, but at least they are 'near' your end of the world.

Keep asking questions, and reading. Welcome to the board.
