| Post subject: | Race Schedule For 2009 For Killer Bees: |
The Killer Bees are already working on some potential...potential new races for 2009. We are hopeing that we can have the same number of races that the East of the Missississ teams will have so we can continue the National Points Rivalry . Boy, was it close this year...Seymour has consented to continueing one with the points calculations...that is if we all do our part to get the complete race "particulars" to him ..Thanks Seymour. We are for now, planning ...and this is not set in stone, the following: MATS at Vegas One or two races at Redding...If one race, we will run two back to back points races the same weekend One or two races at Woodburn One or two races at Medford One race at Samoa One race (one day race) at Sacramento (New addition) One race at Infineon (Sears Point raceway) (New addition) This will give all of you East of the Mississippi a idea of what might be scheduled for 2009. Now,lets hear from your group about what you have planned for 2009? The Bees are getting restless...Lets all make 2009 a better car turnout and show Seymour we are serious about our sport... |

Are the Sacramento and Infineon definite? And if so, when will they be? I will definitly make those two, and hopefully the one at Samoa and Redding. |

You guys seem to be paralleling our (East Coast) course from several years back. More races, joining racers, growing interest... East has had races for 11 yrs, West for 3-4 yrs. Human endeavors inevitably rise when things are fresh and new and fall as people get used to things... West will have overall points win again this year, I predict. Be careful you don't get too many races, as that will bring down excitement and attendance at most/all of them. Eastern folks are set to reduce the number of races to gain turnout at the ones we have. 5-6 races max, plus hopefully the Kearney E v. W race. East is still attracting some new racers, but we likely won't grow that much this year. Of course, I hope I'm wrong! Also, East has lots of fast cars (10s - 12s) that people are not trying to make faster or bring out due to cost or boredom. I will have 3 or 4 cars capable of racing next year, but I can only drive one! Cheers, Lou |

Thanks Lou: You mentioned 5 or 6 races for 2009...Whereabouts? It would be good to try to keep the number of races somewhat even...For years, you guys had so many more races than we did but like the ever moving "turtle"we kept moving forward. Seymour thought it would be a good idea to start the ball rolling with potential races from both groups. Are you going to be the contact person for your group? Let's keep the numbers growing at all races for 2009. Later from Chico, Wayne |

Wayne I think it would be great if you can schedule a back to back weekend of races on the West Coast. Lou and I have talked about a West coast trip to race and it would be good if we drive out to be able to make 2 points races on the same trip. Out here it didnt happen this year but in years past we had several events in different states that were a week apart. This allows for someone to travel and get more than one race (like Glen's trip). On the con side turn out can hurt as the money coffer has not been recharged in 1 week. The races dont even need to be real close to each other,ie NorCal SoCal or NorCal Washington. Thanks Frank |

| Post subject: | Current situation as I see it (East and Midwest) |
It looks like in the absence of other direction, I am the organizer for this year in the East. I would like to see these locations in the East to maximize entrants from popular areas, AND make sure we reach out to some up and coming areas: 1) N. Wilkesboro, NC 2) Pittsburgh or Hagerstown, MD or some NE-ish location 3) Clay City, KY 4) Bristol, TN 5) Valdosta, GA 6) Knoxville, TN We need to limit ourselves to 6 and maybe only 5. The biggest bulk of racers out East will make Bristol, Wilkesboro, and Clay City and/or Knoxville. Pittsburgh track has been a problem in the past, so we are looking at Hagerstown, MD as a possible replacement. This will serve NE folks and a few southerners who can go up. Valdosta, GA serves FL, GA, NC and the SE and Charlie already has this set up. I'd love to do a Farmington or Piedmont, NC but I haven't seen the interest and we don't want to dilute things too much. Columbus and MI races are out due to low car count last few years. My hope is that some "core" racers from TN, NC, VA will go to one "far away" race in addition to CC, Brist, and NW. I will certainly do this, and have gone to Pitt and others in the past. Hope to make GA this year. Kearney, NE is a strong possibility, and I've been talking with Mike J about 3rd weekend in August. This would be the first "All America" Slant 6 race and would try to draw from all over. We will discuss these things at the banquet Jan 23-25 in Gatlinburg, TN and I hope to hear from people about these ideas on the site too. Thanks, Lou EDIT: I also posted this as a new topic to generate Eastern discussion. |

Lou I feel we REALLY need a race in the Mid South Maybe North Texas or Memphis or even Ok City/Tulsa. There are Texas racers that dont have a race. Also We are trying to recruit New racers into the network. I know Dago Red is building a car as is his friend (old Man) whos name excapes me. I might be willing to start putting together some possibilites. Frank |

Frank, If you think there are enough people to make a race, I'm all ears! The midwest races (Indy, St. Louis, Columbus) have fallen flat the last 3-4 years. Maybe Mr. Red and his friend can rally some folks? Slantvaliant might come? Mark Goodman and co get back into it? Lou |

I'm here Frank! Going in about ten directions, but I am chipping away on mine. Morgan is not well so I don't think he'll be racing with us (he'll be 86 this month!). Although it's not an "official" Slant race date, we'll be having our second "Mopars at the Motorplex" this spring. We keep it pretty laid back and if we find ourselves with a group of slant cars wanting to race, we can easily split them off and make a race out of it. I'm sure we can also come up with a few prizes and dollars to make it interesting. The track can also "flip a switch " and go to the 1/8th if that would be easier on everybodys rig. There's about a half dozen local slanters and I'm sure a few more lurking around. I definately want to do Kearney. I'll find the Motorplex date and pop in in here. RICKI feel we REALLY need a race in the Mid South Maybe North Texas or Memphis or even Ok City/Tulsa. There are Texas racers that dont have a race. There's a web site: www.moparsatthemotorplex.com Don't worry if you don't have a $100,000 hot rod. If we ever want to get something going, you first have to show up !!! |

Good feedbacks....By the "potential" addition of both Sacramento and Infineion, we are trying to "reach out" to new areas that we know have slant6 cars..Our first year at Woodburn brought 15 cars out...next year more cars as the word is out...If you can get at least a 8 car minimum field, that would be a good start and something to build on. The mopar meet in Texas is the perfect place to get some "newbies" ...Is Texas West of the Mississippi? I never was good at Geography... |
