I'm interested in replacing the 2.8 V6 GM motor in my 85 Jeep Cherokee. I used to have a Plymouth Scamp with a Slant six and I always loved the motor and I was hoping to hear any thoughts on the idea. Thanks! Chris |

With a big enough hammer, you can put anything in there. The question is: Why? You would be money ahead installing a straight six Jeep motor from a donor, rather than fabricate everything yourself to try to stuff in a slant six. As for weight, the slant is not a factor; people put Cummins 4bt diesels in them all the time. As for length, I don't know. The Jeep straight six is plenty long. But you would have to make and modify a lot of stuff! Personally, I think it would be a waste of money and time and would end in frustration as an unfinished project. Then again, I'd love to see you pull it off! After seeing a Ford 300 straight six in a Ranger, and yesterday I saw a Suzuki Samurai with a Chev 350 I'd believe anything is possible. |

Coconuteater64's answer is bang on target. Yes, with enough time, money, and welding rod you probably could put a slant-6 into an '85 Jeep. It would be much more difficult and the results would be much less satisfactory than installing as late a 4.0 Jeep inline-6 as you could get your hands on. |

Why not? go ahead be different.but have fun fabricating!! the slant distributer will be too close to the spring tower and the valve cover may interfere with heater hose routing. besides the 4.0l is unstoppable and you can buy one running in a jeep for very cheap with everything you need for a straight forward swap |
