I just picked up a 1975 dodge dart custom 4dr to day!! With a six. I need some help in finding out some more info on the car I have a vin# LH41C5B344991 and the tag in the motor bay is

It's in real good shape it will need a carb clean or a new carb, would only run on gas that was pored into the carb, I went out and bought everything to get it running, the weather is bad out this way so I will have to get it next week. We have 6in of snow right now and it is still comming down.
I wish that this thing was a Plymouth. I had one while going to school, a 1974 Plymouth custom 4dr in avocado green with a white top. So this car will bring back many memorys for me. Oh the car has 38,005 original miles on it the insides look like new and there is no to very little rust on the out side of it. I will need some better bumpers for it though, they are getting kind of bad, it has been sitting for 5-6 years with very little on the running end. any help with what I have just put $550.00 on would be help full. I will let you all know how this one go's. I have a 1953 Plymouth that I have driven so this will be kind of nice next to that in the drive!!

Not sure what to do with the L2 or 611. Welcome on the board! You'll want a factory service manual. Tune-up parts and technique suggestions in this thread. Remember this engine needs periodic valve adjustment. I may have a brand-new carburetor for you; don't buy "remanufactured" garbage from a parts store. For now, make sure to run the distributor vacuum advance hose directly from the carburetor to the distributor, not stopping at the widget (OSAC) on the air cleaner.

I don't know if this is a californian car due to it is from IL area. It was sold out this way(IL) and I will be the 2nd owner. I will get back to you on the carb thanks for the offer on that. Also thanks for the info on the car!! I just love it. I will have more info for you next week when I get it Home and go throughout it. Thanks for all the help so far.

Can I use a 1920 Holly on this car?? I have 2 of these in the garage. Also if they will not work what would you need for that carb, if you have one that would work for me?? Thanks, Rob

Some variants of the 1920 could be adapted without much difficulty to your '75. It would be easiest with a '73 1920, which would have just about all the hookups present on your original 1945 carburetor. '71-'72 1920s would lack the venturi vacuum tap to run the EGR system, and there is no workaround or substitute, so you'd need to disable the EGR altogether if you use a pre-1973 carburetor.

Carburetors and catalytic converters never got along well, particularly before the 1981 introduction of feedback carburetors (which have their own big problems). If your 1975 is not subject to emission tests where it is registered, you would do well to delete the catalyst (if the car is still so equipped).

You may want to peruse this thread for a rundown on the various emission control systems before you make a decision on what carb to use.

Whichever carb you pick, it needs to be in good condition or you'll have poor driveability and fuel economy.

Thanks for that info on the carb, I think that if I just clean this one up it will be ok I hope. Also when I go to get the car the battery is from 2001 and I don't think it's ok. So could I use one of the batterys from my truck wich is a BIG one and I think they each have 850 cold cranking amps or would I fry the alt on the dart?? I am hopping I could use a truck bat for now due to I am not driving it in the winter any more. The diesel is no good for me any more in the winter. Rob

There's no way a "big" battery could fry anything in your car, as long as it is hooked up correctly and not backwards.

As quickly as you can, get these three books and read them cover to cover.
