The lid on my air cleaner has some bad rust on it . I tried to get it all off , but did not do a good job . It just keeps popping up. What is the best way to grind the rust off, and what is the best paint to use on it ? Thanks Dave |

what is your budget? have it sandblasted at an engine rebuilder's and paint it with black rustoleum if you are on the cheap and have no equipment like grinders to work with. want the best? have it hot-tanked and powder coated. if you have a grinder, use it. buying it will put you over the cost of these suggestions but you will have a tool you can use on other projects to recoup your losses. |

00spy, Hand sand or sand blast if needed. The best possible product to use is POR-15. Order the starter kit and flow the process. It will stop the rust from returning and make it look very nice. It flows well when using a brush and dries like glass. I have used it on my battery tray, frame, rear end, wheels, springs, trunk, radiator, around the window frames, etc.. great stuff! On the frame and radiator I used the Chassis Coat gloss black paint. |
