Post subject:  Doc, A745 Trans Oil

Hi All. I have a 1967 A-100 with the Heavy Duty
A745 3-Speed Trans and I'm changing the oil. The
manual says to use ATF, either Dextron or a
Chrysler number I've never heard of. It also says
you can use 90 weight for heavy duty situations.

The oil I drained was definatly ATF. My question
is, does it really matter what kind of ATF you
use with todays oil technology? I have some
Mopar 7176+3 laying around, is this what I should
use? Or should I use gear oil?

Thanks
Mike

Hey guys, have you ever rebuilt one of these trannies? I have one in my '69 A108 that has the synchro's out and it whines enough to make me concerned. I have to put a new clutch etc. in it and figured that if I could get ahold of a rebuild kit, that I would just go for it all at the same time.
BTW - I have been running type F ATF in mine for over 7000 miles so far and it seems to run just fine. Maybe I should switch over to some other type of oil and see if the noise settles down a little?
Thanks,
Dan
