I may have a clearance problem.

I've got the mini-starter. I also have 0.125" off the deck, and 0.040" off the head. It looks like things are going to be mighty close here.

Any thoughts on this? Can anybody let me know what clearance you have on true duals? (Both new castings.)

No sense pulling the stack if I'm not going to be able to clear the starter and get a heat shield on there.

I had two castings on the red car for a while. I had a mini-starter, don't remember any real clearance problems. :?

The new castings with the big flanges will likely take some heavy grinding on the bottom, but will likely work.

My Dual Dutras are on the car with the low starter location (A500 trans).

I have run the dual Duals with .100 off the head and .100 off the block... it fits but getting the pipe over the starter is tight.

As noted, do not be afraid to grind additional clearance onto the bottom of the flange... there is lots of material there to work with.

I had to grind tthe flange on the rear manifold to clear the bolt where the cable attaches to the starter. Nothing major, it still left plentry of flange for gasket seal.

With Fopar and THOR's help I finally got the Dual Dutra Duals all hooked up, hooked up the battery, and fired it off.

Wicked sound! With the same muffler and tailpipe it's got a nasty rap to it.

I've still got a long way to go!

With the exhaust setup I got, when it idles, you can hear each cylinder fire.

Once I get it warm enough to idle, I'll have to listen for that!

I,m leaning towards purchasing Dutra,s dual exhaust manifolds in the near future.Do these fit with a regular starter or do I need a mini-starter?Is there much grinding, how,s the fit.Any advise will be helpful. Thanks

There is some grinding involved. Be ready for that. I spent some quality time with my die grinder and a good size carbide bit. Make sure the manifolds play well together, and the lower rear manifold stud will need some attention. I had to take quite a bit off the dual to allow me to install the triangle washer, and a bit more to get a socket on the nut back there.

Things are tight around the starter. There isn't a lot of room between the starter and the rear pipe.
Clearing the front pipe over drag link is a bit tricky as well. Where the pitman arm ties in needs some consideration.

Do you mean Dual Dutra Duals? Or the Dutra front with modified rear?

Ceej has the Dual Dutra Manifolds. With the modified rear, it should fit the same as factory.

I have videos of Ceejs car.... depending on whether he wants me to put up another incriminating video of him racing up and down the street, I may just upload a sound file instead.

Ceej?

Sound bite? Yeah, messing around on the street isn't the sort of thing we need to have out there.
