Post subject:  MATS Rules?

Still trying to get my car done.Have a couple of questions and don't have a rule book.I have a fuel cell in my trunk and a nitrous tank in there.Do I have to have a steel firewall behind the rear seat and how about the package shell area?If so what gauge does it have to be.I saw something on wheel studs. Can I use my acorn nots? The tops are on them and I don't want to take them off.Does the wheel stud have to protrude through the nut? I have steel wheels. Will I require a fire suit?gloves?safety harness? Also can you camp at the trackI went last yaer to watch and got a room but I would rather stay at the track if possible.I surely don't want to get there and not be able to run my car (if done).I have no idea how fast it'll be but I'm hoping in the low 13' or 12's :?:

They do like to see a partition between the trunk and the passenger area... I have the factory backseat cardboard divider... spray painted silver in my toad car... only one tech guy in 3 years noticed it was painted cardboaerd.  He told me to get it replace with aluminum, gave me a number and let me run with it as is. 8)

As of a couple of years ago you need to have a fire jacket if running NOS.
Me... I always leave the bottle out of the car when teching... fewer questions that way.

Yes on camping at the track but one note... it can get windy there.

NHRA rules say the stud threads must extend beyond the wheel into the nut the same distance as the diameter of the stud.

A 1/2" Stud must stick into the threads at least 1/2"
If the tech guy so decides, you will have to remove a lug nut for him to inspect this. I've never had them do it. Shoot, the last two or three races I went through tech with my dog dishes on.

Just get some open lug nuts. No more trouble! :D

Firewall for the package tray/seat area must be either .024 steel or .032 aluminum.

I have steel in my '66 and it has been checked.

Yes.

The idea is to stop fire in case the cell ignites. Cardboard and a seat won't do much there. :?
