Doug, I just found your write-up in June issue of Mopar Action Magazine titled "Lancerlot". You were describing flow porting the runners and removing some iron from the 30 deg. bend to straighten the out flow. I'm in the process of doing a little porting project this week. (my first attempt). I have smoothed out all surfaces, removing all the "barnacles", casting warts, and carbon build up. I removed approximately 0.030" or less from most surfaces, and left several small carbon pockets in each runner so as not to cut too much material. My thinking is less is more in keeping cross sectional area as small as possible. Next I need to sand these areas which will probably remove most of the carbon dots. Now my question. How much metal can one safely remove from the small side of the bend, and what would the new cross section of the runner look like at that point. Would it be same as before grinding, or would it be "egged out", where the center of the runner is eroded more than the edges. How thick is the casting forming the runners. |

Thanks Doc. If only we could look over someone's shoulder as this is process being done... You have been helpful, and generous with your time helping the newbie class. Thanks again. I'm apparently on the right track. I had previously read and viewed these same files you sent having found them on /6 forum, but as the learning curve goes with this old cranium, these instructions make more since now than they did before grabbing the die grinder. Last night I micked the distance between the machined surface of the head and the close bend's crown. There is a bit more metal to come off in the 0.030" range or less to square up, and make each runner's section equal to the others. After that bit of touch up I will put the grinder down, and walk away from the head stand... Bill |

Where is a good place to get reasonably priced long shaft burrs? I checked Goodson but didn't see them. Did I miss them? Rick |

I got my burs here. 6" burs located half way down page 2590, additional burs are on page 2588 & 2589. This company shipped my order in a timely manner. |

I ordered one from sevendeals.com without any troubles but I haven’t used it yet to say how good it is. Rick carbidebur.com has what looks like the same thing for the same price. I don’t remember why I picked the first one now because the second website looks better. In fact, they may be the same place. I think I ordered from carbidebur.com but the invoice was from sevendeals.com. Danny |

Also check out ebay seller zoar_48. This guy sells burrs and has some long shanked ones he puts up every so often. |
