There seems to be some sort of build up on them. What do you think is going on here? These plugs have about 3000-4000 miles on them.   The porciline is not broken on any of the plugs. I scrapped the first one with my finger nail and the crusty stuff came off.   I just changed out the valve seals and I was really expecting to find them on bad shape. They seemed OK, but maybe I don't know what I am looking for. |

Other than the numbers are upside down they look like 6000 mile plugs to me. I think you want to read the new plugs next week......cuz that is now. These are from then.....and irrelevant. |

I agree, I was just a little put off by the amount of build up on them.I had some Autolite 65's in stock so I put them in for now. |

To really read a plug correctly you need to look down around the top of the porcelin.at least thats what was told to me by the fuel truck guy at Bonneiville,and he has been there reading plugs for the last 15 years,To me they look like used plugs,mark |

The only thing I ever look at the porcelain for is to see if there are pieces of piston on it. Other than that I look at the plug threads and the ground strap. Those look to me to be slightly rich, and using oil. If the deposits weren't on the ground strap I could tell you how your timing is too.
