Eugene Ross made it a clean for this years event beating out another local slant six racer Mike Patterson and his clean, green 1970 Duster. The guys were on with a .017 and .016 package respectively in the semis. Eugene also made it down to four cars in the Sportsman category. Five cars showed up and paid their $15. Without winning a round you got $25 back for a semifinal finish!! Definetly worth the trip. Eugene was granted the 1st rd bye run for his Sat win. The Cox brothers 66 Dart faced Mike Patterson in the 1st rd and Mike emerged victorious. Barry Harrison defeated Jim Cox in the Cox brothers black 74. Eugene Ross took out Barry in rd 2 and Mike received the bye setting a battles of the 18 plusers. I am not sure of the details because I was running between my car in staging and the line to take pictures but I believe Mike broke and Eugene was good by one.
We might have to set up a match race between Eugene and Gordie! I have the pleasure(or pain) of racing Eugene on a regular basis. That little 68 Barracuda is TOUGH! Congrats again Eugene and hopefully we will see him at more SS races in the future.
