hey hows it going everybody....im new around here well down to biz i have a 73 scamp that is in amazing condition for how much i paid for it but it wont start when i decided to buy hte car(from a neighboor) it started easy and even on a push button well 3 weeks later and its outta gas and i have the money.. now it wont start! oput gas in it and it wont even run off starting fluid put new plugs in it and when gapped at.020 it gets little spark and none at .035 well we're thinking its the coil but we arent positive were hoping its not the pickup in the distributor! any suggestions on what to try? i had to go out and get a multimeter since my last one broke and we quit for the evening afterwards and a real dumb question whats the oil capacity of my 73 sl6? heres my new ride....one of many i spose ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() and for kickers..heres my project ![]()

5 quarts on a fresh fill and filter. Your spark problem does sound like either a weak coil or ignition module. Before you go replacing parts though, cover the basics. Make sure all the connections are clean at the module and coil, the engine & body ground is good, ballast, cap/rotor condition. |

added a new coil fully charged battery new rotor button and cap and still NOTHING... im getting spark but no engine fire |

You gettin gas to the carb? Check your plug wires are in the right order. |

whats the right order... i dont have a manual and the carbs getting gas....this is driving me insane |

so in relation to the dist where do the wires go and no little turds ate any wires...i wish that was the case.,.itd be an easy fix....ive been working on cars for years but this is kicking my butt probably because its an easy fix and i dont think easy |

cylinders #'d 1-6 front to back should be a mark on the cap for #1 Clockwise rotation: Cap Leads-------- Cylinder 1------------------------1 2------------------------5 3------------------------3 4------------------------6 5------------------------2 6------------------------4 |

right order now....still nothing the ballast resistor is hot as hell though could that be it? |

So the thing that went wrong if I read correctly was that the car was running fine-you ran out of gas-now car wont run. Could be something in the carb now because of this...just a thought. There are people here that are more carb savvy than I. |
