hey hows it going everybody....im new around here

well down to biz
i have a 73 scamp that is in amazing condition for how much i paid for it but it wont start
when i decided to buy hte car(from a neighboor) it started easy and even on a push button
well 3 weeks later and its outta gas and i have the money..
now it wont start!
oput gas in it and it wont even run off starting fluid
put new plugs in it and when gapped at.020 it gets little spark and none at .035
well we're thinking its the coil but we arent positive
were hoping its not the pickup in the distributor!

any suggestions on what to try?
i had to go out and get a multimeter since my last one broke and we quit for the evening afterwards

and a real dumb question
whats the oil capacity of my 73 sl6?

heres my new ride....one of many i spose

5 quarts on a fresh fill and filter.

Your spark problem does sound like either a weak coil or ignition module. Before you go replacing parts though, cover the basics. Make sure all the connections are clean at the module and coil, the engine & body ground is good, ballast, cap/rotor condition.

cylinders #'d 1-6 front to back should be a mark on the cap for #1

Clockwise rotation:

Cap Leads-------- Cylinder

1------------------------1
2------------------------5
3------------------------3
4------------------------6
5------------------------2
6------------------------4

So the thing that went wrong if I read correctly was that the car was running fine-you ran out of gas-now car wont run.

Could be something in the carb now because of this...just a thought.
There are people here that are more carb savvy than I.
