Back in Dec: I had the oprotunity to put the old Hoopy on a friend's dyno. With a 390 holley adapted to a 2bbl intk, and electronic Ignition the 225 put out 97 Rear wheel HP and 153 fp of Torque. After a .030 overbore, clifford intake and headers, Comp264s cam, minor head work, and a homemade windage tray.... This past weekend she ran 137HP at 178fp of torque. I always figured HP is harder to get than the advertised figures of parts manufac.....but I am not disapointed in the results..the old bomb is running great. It would be interesting to know what kind of results others are getting at the rear wheels. I know most people can't afford the Dyno thing...I just have a good friend. Anyway, I promised some of you guys that I would get back ...with the results Trysix Soupitup@msn.com |

Did you get a chance to try some different timing or carb settings? (My guess is that there are a few more "horses" hiding in there) DD |

Depending on the kind of dyno you were using, typical driveline losses are 15-20%. So your crankshaft HP and TQ were in the 171/225 range. Mitch m5black@aol.com |

I bumped my rev limit from 5.4 k to 5.6K and the curves stayed relatively flat with a little increase. I also remove the covers from my exhaust cut-outs located just before the mufflers at the rear axle. I only saw about a 2HP increase...if that.It did make a lot more racket though. I agree I feel there is more power in tuning....I still havent tried rejetting the carb and your right it would have been nice to play with the timming a bit. I plan on taking it to the racetrack soon ...maybe I'll find something there. I don't know what to expect from the 1/4 mile performance but I'm not real optimistic this cars a 4dr B body with no fat removed. Trysix Soupitup@msn.com |
