I have a motor in my shop right now with the MP high volume pump on it. Less than 300 miles on the motor and the pump gear is trashed.

So this topic is not so new but where can I get a high volume oil pump or something that will handle 6500 rpm. I wont go that high but you never know. |

A high-volume oil pump isn't just unnecessary, it's actually a poorer choice for high-RPM usage, for it greatly increases the load on the pump drive (cam worm/pump pinion). |

The best choice for a performance SL6 is to use a "medium volume" (7/8 thick impeller) and rework it for more efficency, then add a case hardened drive gear. I have done many of these "blueprinted" oil pumps over the years so drop me a PM if you need more info. DD |

So why is the m66hv not good. I thought the high pressure pump was the bad one, not the high volume one? |

The "HV" pump is he 1 inch impeller... Seeing that the factory pump has a 5/8 thick impeller, the 1 inch is way overkill and more expensive. DD |

I would "assume" (based on what I may or may not know) that too heavy an oil would possibly perhaps have some impact on that?
