I have a 66 D100 225 "w" a 727 auto. It has a 2206035 head.
I searched here, found many threads re: my 66 head (2206035)

I searched google and found thousands + or –

In my shop sits a head with these numbers. 2202952 followed by a - 4

Using the search feature here I found no threads re: 2202952.

So decided to google it. I found only one link.!!!

The google link showed it was used with crank centering ring of 1.962" from 1960 to 1967.

The same page showed its application for years 1960 to 1974 when used with 2.157" crank centering ring.

Does anyone have more information on this casting number, and why it is seems to be uncommon?

BTW, My reason for this was to check to see if it would be wise to use as a replacement head for my 225. ?? GMac

I see the one listing you found. That crank centring ring has nothing to do with the head casting number; it looks like they're using it to identify the engines with the smaller pre-'68 crank counterbore. Take another look at that table; you'll see it's an attempt at showing what blocks and heads you're likely to find with which identifying features. It's neither comprehensive nor particularly detailed; just a rough spotter's guide.

I don't have my '60-'61 FPCs handy at the moment, but judging by the casting numbers, the two numbers prior to 2206035 (2128654 and your 2202952) are almost certainly '60 and early '61 castings. They weren't too strict with casting numbers on heads at that time, as it seems; at least some of the heads for the '61-'62 aluminum 225 that had a 5-pointed star in the normal casting number location, visible with the valve cover installed had 2206035 inside the valve cover gasket rail, even though they were different from the iron-block heads with 2206035 visible in the external location.

The '67+ head (earliest casting number 2843169) is preferred for its modified combustion chamber, but if you've already got a head on the bench, and it's in sound condition, go 'head and use it.
