Hello all, I was wanting to give my 198 slant a little more power. My plan is to get a 4bbl intake and carb, Header, Open element air filter and electronic ignition. Most people say that i will notice a nicec power gain just with that. Others say I need head work to notice a power difference. What are your opinions? nlguzman@earthlink.net |

You will most likely notice a performance gain, but if you ask me headers and intake are a waste without proper headwork and a good camshaft... its like breathing through a funnel through a straw... there is still a lot of restriction. =D |

You will see a substantial gain, but your car will not be "fast". Expect 0.5-1 sec improvement over stock with a well-tuned header and 2 or 4 bbl with a nice intake. Lou |

I was able to get my 68 dart to go 14.90's befor any head work. Full body all steel, all interior, 410's and slicks. Will Quote:

Alway remember that a SL6 head ports and valve sizes were designed for a 170, so using a "unported" head on a 198 is not as bad as using one on a 225. There is no reason you should not go-in and do a small amount of port and pocket work, this help even with stock size valves. DD
