| Post subject: | swapping master cylinders |
i'm doing a disc brake upgrade to an A108 van. i'm using a M/C from a B series van. one of the steel lines seals up fine. the other doesn't. in the port that does seal there is a ferule just like the original M/C. in the other hole there isn't. at the parts store where i bought it, they showed me another B model and it has the ferule in both ports. at the same time they try to tell me that M/C's come with or without these ferules. can anybody confirmed this for me? got any suggestions as to how to get the old one out of my old M/C? Geeze. They'll say anything to foist garbage on you and get you out the door. "They come with and without"?!! Bull! There must be a tube seat in both outlets. They only come without if somebody's been sloppy and careless. I am guessing these are "remanufactured" brake cylinders you're buying? If so, you're setting yourself up for trouble; get a new cylinder instead. F If you are stuck and need to swap the tube seat (and, on the drum brake portion, the residual pressure valve) from one master cylinder to another, see here for how-to. |

Foist? that's a new one for me. . . . i paid $98 for it. it better not be rebuilt. poor quality, that i'd buy! ur little trick to pull the old ferule worked like a charm. . . . unfortunately, the under lyings between the original A drum/drum M/C and the newer B Disc/Drum M/C are not similar. that idea didn't work. tonite i found the receipt, so i'll run it back to try to get one that will seal. as usual, ur rite on the mark SSD. . . . thanx again! HELP! D~~~! |
