either one will work well if the valve cover flange is flat and you do not tighten the crap out of the mounting bolts

I prefer the rubber over cork. They last alot longer and will reseal after a few valve re-lashing sessions.

Is that so even when you don't use white grease on them as well?

I did some research and bought the rubber gasket over the cork however I didn't use anything on my rubber gasket after I did my valves last week...

I use just a little synthetic oil and the seat fine. Grease would work just as well.

Hard Charger you will be fine as long as you go ahead and take it back of an lube it now. It may or may not work if you wait 6 months.

I have reused a rubber gasket many times over without any lube. Maybe I just got lucky? Looked in good shape every time it came off, so it just went back on.

Post subject:  Brand?

Is there a preferred brand? The last one I used was a "CORTECO" from the NAPA store and the tabs were off a little bit. Not so far off I got the wrong part but like the mould or die was off a little bit. (Off far enough that only two of the four tabs lined up making installation a bit of a challenge.)
