I have in my possession a spare /6 that I am interested in building for everyday use, yet have substantial horsepower. This is the engine combo I am leaning to: -Garrett T03 turbo -porting -.030 off the head surface -.020 off the deck height -fuel injection system off a Chevy 3.8 -extude honed exhaust manifold -intercooled for sure -2 1/2 downpipe to cat -high flow cat -2 1/2 cat back exhaust The questions I have are: -What size and type of valves would work best? -What is the best camshaft to use for turbo applications? -Which /6 intake will work best with the Chevy throttle body? -What are the best pistons to be used with this set up? -What is the maximum boost will the head gasket take? -What is the best head gasket to use for turbo applications? I appologize for all the questions, but I want to do this correctly the first time and be satisfied with it for years to come. I am open to suggestions on building this beast. My goal is to have upwards around 280HP yet be gentle enough to drive daily, is this possible? I would love to see a section on this site with specifications and parts used and what type of power can be expected? Is there one planned in the future. Maybe a list of horsepower gains by adding specific parts and the power range of these parts combos. I have spent a few hours reading through these post and find them very informative, thanks for any advice. |

: The questions I have are : -What size and type of valves would work best? For the turbo / EFI, the o/s SL6 Mopar Valves would be fine : : -What is the best camshaft to use for turbo applications? It does not need a lot, short overlap, high lift, medium duration like 250-265 degrees. Look into a custom grind. : : -Which /6 intake will work best with the Chevy : throttle body? You will have to make this custom, the Clifford with the EFI Bosses would be a good starting point. : -What are the best pistons to be used with this : set up? The no longer available TRW forged "stock replacements" @ 8.4 to 1 CR, next would be the last remaining std. size (3.445) 2.2 TRWs in the warehouses. These would need some piston head milling to bring down the CR and 198 con.rods of course. : : -What is the maximum boost will the head gasket : take? : -What is the best head gasket to use for turbo : applications? well prepped surface, ARP studs, steel shim gasket & some spray goo, good to 15 lbs+ add o-rings to the block and it will take more. Hey thanks, that will give me alot of ideas to kick around. I imagine these modifications you suggested, the /6 will really raise a brow or too! Any suggestions about trans modifications? Quote:
