The thought has crossed my mind but that's pricey! I may have to go the FJM route but I have a feeling I'll still run into the same issue used.

This swap is killing me.... Having trouble finding clean spindles. First set I got clearly had spun bearings. The second set looked better. Had some surface rust shelf wear that cleaned up, but then a small ridge was exposed. I can feel it with my fingernail. Is there a test to see if the spindle is beyond use? If I slip a new bearing over it, is the center race supposed to turn/wobble on the spindle or should it stay put? |

Wanna try the new Magnumforce 2" drop spindles? I think someone else is repopping stock spindles too. FJM spindles work very well too and are much easier to find. If there's much chewed up there (raised areas more than 0.1-0.2 mm, or worn down maybe a bit more) then I'd not use em. Lou |

The bearings are a slip fit so the inner race would be able to spin on the journal until it was tightened up with the spindle nut. They would maybe wobble a little too but it wouldn’t be much. Do you have any way to measure them with a micrometer? That’s about the only way to be sure unless there is obvious wear. Have you tried comparing the fit with your old spindles? Danny |

Yep, have calipers. Just didn't know how much out of round is too much. Thanks for the heads up on the inner race. Old spindles are still on the car, its my daily driver. Trying to gather all the parts to do the swap in one weekend or vacation. |

Spindles have to be pretty bad to be unusable. I would try bench bolting the whole thing together and see where you are at. Unless the spindle is galled pretty bad you will probably be fine. Minor "blueing" is OK. I have used spindles where the inner race had to be carefully torched off the spindle........a quick buff with the emery cloth and back in business. The inner race "floats" on the spindle and is held against the step in the spindle by the spindle nut. The outer is centered by the taper of the bearings. The spindle condition is less critical than it appears at first. |

Big question is will the bearings stayed centered well enough for the seal to maintain a good seal.
