Hello all,

Well once again here we are with yet another what should i do to my slant six thread lol.

Im going to be receiving an early christmas gift from our member Burntorange70 a slant six with a 904 tranny automatic

Yes before i posted i searched other posts but i found that all the parts mentioned were really expensive im looking to make this slant six my daily driver with good gas mileage a little bit of power but most importantly i want to make it sound like it has a 440. Lol. So basically how do i keep the engine pretty much stock except maybe ill get the super six setup or another setup such as a 4bbl or 2bbl intake with a holley and some headers? And what will i need to make it sound like a BEAST

All your suggestions are welcome =]

an yes i want to keep the /6 reason being i live in california and i will be driving this bad boy school/work/other stuff and want gas mileage for gas prices can reach like 3 bucks lol

Super Six, Dutra Duals, 2 1/4" exhaust, turbo muffler, and a VROOMBOX.

OMG!!! That is funny!!!!

I wonder if the VroomBox could be modified to work with air/electric tools or hey, maybe the air compressor itself!! I wouldn't mind if my 5hp sounded like a Hemi!!!

Sorry, back on topic.

Ya, Salvage yard Super Six, a complete tune up, carb rebuild, distributor mods (search), good free flowing muffler, and 2 1/4" exhaust. That's about the cheapest things you can do.

I agree; Super Six, Dutra Duals into single free-flowing exhaust, maybe a glasspack muffler  . Also, maybe an open element air cleaner.
Have fun!

Not at all!

I just threw that in because you said a particular sound was most important. That, and I thought someone here would find it funny.

Seriously, decide what the car needs to be, plan a route to get there on a budget you can handle, and let it sound the way it sounds. An inline six won't really sound like a V8 to experienced ears. The cadence is different.

The slant six can sound very nice, indeed, with the right exhaust.

Can I do all the mentioned above without the duals for they are a bit pricey as far as sounding as a v8 I do understand it won't but I was just curious lol

hey scamp, we just put a full single 2.5 system under our '64 valiant with a flowmaster 40 muffler and man did it wake up that old 225! thought it would kill the low end but it didn't. it really gained in the mid and upper rpm's too, sounds good, not like a v-8 though.

An inline six will never sound like a V8, but if you like 6's it sounds better!

Run Dutra duals, or the modified Chevy manifold. Crossover pipe, and no mufflers out to the bumper.
