Ok I'm really confused here.

I have a '68 Valiant w/ 225 Auto (no idea with type trans). I was replacing the wire for the neutral safety switch. When I got to the switch it has a nut that you remove to take the wire off. I figured I better just replace the switch while I'm at it so I looked them up online. But online they show the switch with 3 prongs and it looks nothing like the one on the car. So I thought maybe the plug was changed by the PO so I looked for a new one but they come with 3 wires and mine is only one black wire.

Does anyone (SSD?) know of where to buy the replacement switch? I hope someone can shed some light on this for me. Thanks -Dan

The 3-pin switch was used starting in '69. The '65-'68 1-pin switches (and the '57-'64 1-pin switches) are no longer available thru general auto parts sources. You can get a new one from Old Car Parts Northwest or from Pat "Torqueflite Patty" Blais, tflitepatty@verizon.net . But why replacing a switch that's still working? They don't often fail.

Oh ok cool, well that's one less part I have to replace then. I'll just put a new wire on it and call it done. Thanks again Dan :D

Thanks Cuda! You guys are all very helpful, much appreciated. I don't know what I would have done if you guys weren't here. My car would probably still be sitting in my backyard collecting rust. -Dan
