Just curious what the comunity thought about the three different fan options for our daily driven slant powered vehicles with regard to cooling, horsepower gain/loss and fitment. Comments welcomed and encouraged, I realized that I have all three choices in my driveway. We'll leave electric fans and race vehicles off the table for now. |

Tough to find a clutch fan that'll fit the pre-'67 A-bodies. See here for discussion of clutch fans, here for info on a clutch fan that might fit, here for a discussion of flex fans, and here for a long discussion of faith vs. science in determining the effects of a fan swap. More threads and posts by searching flex fan with the board's search function. How 'bout an electric fan with an upgraded alternator…? |

Dam, I couldn't find an emoticon to symbolize "raining on my parade", do you think you could help me out with that?

Well, Kev and Nev at GPRS Mopar (the ones who make the nice Australian manifold gaskets) have said they're working on a clutch fan package that'll fit even the tight early engine bays, but then they have also said they'd work on a new-tech head gasket for the aluminum 225… |

I can't vote cause you don't have a "5 blade viscous" listed. Sorry |

No, there is no clutch. It's bolted directly to the pump.

Then it's not viscous, but solid. "Viscous" describes the fan clutch.

Yes, I also consider "viscous" a clutch fan. As far as electric goes, I just wanted to stick with the water pump mounted variety. Not too many votes happening, are we all electric or just short on opinion? |

I would never use a flex fan the last one I used was rated for 10,000 rpms and came apart at 6,000,puting a tear in my hood and a slice in my 150$ coil on my 73 charger |

There is no one correct answer. Too many variables. What ambiant temp range? type of vehicle (light or heavy, radiator clearence), A/C or not? fan shroud? Auto or standard? Size of the radiator? any mods to the engine? final drive ratio? In general, if there is room, I like a 5 blade thermal clutch fan. |

I have one of these off and the shroud off an Aspen on my duster, that is a pretty nice combination...much nicer than the 7 blade clutch fan...-D.Idiot |
