Here are a few pics of the Aussie intake cut up. The blue marker on the center two cyl is representative of the material that needs to be removed to match the ports on the head.

Now there is something you don't see everyday...

Looks like about 1/16th of core shift on that manifold. (the top wall is thicker then the floor) The good news is that the shift is even all the way across.

Fire-up the TIG and start welding!!

Have you ever heard of ultrasonic measuring for thickness?

Sorry for the poor quality. This is the plenum side of 1,2,3. I'm not touching the floor of the port as this matches the floor of the head. So far there appears to be enough room to match the runners to the head. There is an optical illusion but the opening for each runner is the same width.

What the reason?

In porting, you DO NOT want it to widen sudden (that slows the air flow) out especially in that area and just taper out 2" into from the flanges where it meets head. and leave the manifold ports slightly SMALLER than the head ports to keep air from bouncing back out.

Same on exhaust. But this time, ports on the head is slightly smaller than the exhaust manifold.

Cheers, Wizard

The reason is the stock configuration probably would not support 25 pounds of boost efficiently. The runners would be a restriction.

These manifold flows rather well and most uniformly distributed and that is the major reason as evidenced with Doc's hurricane manifold had him surprised barking the tires too easily vs regular super six and his hyper manifolds.

Just turbo the slant with unmodified hurricane as is and see.

Cheers, Wizard

Well, it's to late to see besides this is for the new engine. I have a ported Clifford (std length) on the slant now and it runs 12.30's. I should be able to get the stocker into the 11s with a real good launch and a touch more psi.
