If one wanted to pull ONLY the extension housing on an 833OD, what would be the procedure?

Thanks in advance.

Everything has to come apart on the OD trans to do that.

I recommend checking out the service manual.

The countershaft and Counter gear have to be moved out of the way and then the extension housing with output shaft and gear cluster will come out.

Pretty much as Greg says, you can unbolt everything, but the coutershaft gear cluster and the mainshaft gear cluster are just tight like that...once you follow the procedure to pop the countershaft out of the casing and the gear cluster falls to the bottom of the case, it'll come right out... So if you just need the extension housing you can put all the other peices in a plastic bucket and save for someone else's rebuild.

Yeah, I was just hoping someone had a trick up their sleeve to make it happen without having to break it all the way down.

Thanks.
