Post subject:  Bunch of questions

I'm reading the 4 speed article and running through the forum and it's a lot to take in at once. I'm pretty much a newbie and have never messed with an 833 or anything. But I'd really like to put a 4 speed on my new 68 Barracuda and just have a few questions. Right now it has a 3 on the tree.

Are 3 on the tree pedals the same as 4 speed pedals, or can they be used with an a-833 anyway?

Also, what year parts should I get, such as tranny, floor hump, bellhousing, flywheel etc that will bolt on to this thing to make it the easiest installation possible? I'd just like to get a list going so I know what to look for while I search for parts. Thanks guys.

I did this swap in a 62 a body and it bolted right up..except  Anew driveline had to be made, a new bell housing had to be found. a big hole in the floor was cut, my Z bar had to be moved over just a bit and the clutch fork had to be cut and modified....did I say a big hole in the floor was cut. other then that it did bolt right up..It took about 2 days...the same pedals were used and the three speed linkage was taken out..( dont forget about the speedo cable).. I think it was worth the work..but now I shift on the floor like every one else :(

It should be a lot easier with your '68. Same pedal etc., I just had to get a different yoke, and install a transmission hump in my '67. Get a car trans and not a truck one. Just measure the overall length of the 3-speed, and match it to a 4-speed. The other issues are the input bearing retainer has to match your bellhousing (mine came from Brewer) www.brewersperformance.com , and I had to swap the flywheel for some reason I forget now. Getting old.

The swing pedal assembly is the same, yes.

Almost everything else is different.

Just remembered, that was for a '75 engine swap. Nevermind, as Kurt Cobain might have said.
