Hi All,

Today I picked up brackets & pulleys to attach a Paxton supercharger to my slant. I have never installed or had a supercharger on any of my cars. If there is somone on the site who is running one, I'd really like to chat with you about it.

Or if there is anyone who has set up, or run one in the past please chime in.

Thanks,

CE

Check out Al Towe's Page.

It's not a paxton, but the eaton M90 Which the aussie hurricane is being designed for.

I a sure you can find some contac info for him on this site or on his page here:

No one eh? Hmmmm. I know I've got a lot of learning to do. I guess it is just that much more now!

Greg, thank you for the link. I did a quick read, but I've got to go back and look at it more closely

Here is all the bracketry and pulleys btw:

Bolts up to front of the waterpump on the drivers side and sits about where the battery is.

Great score!

Dale Rose has one on his Arrow, I believe. Not a ss.org guy though. Maybe his is a Vortech?

It sounds like a pretty easy swap to me, once you have the brackets.

I'm pretty sure Dale's is either a Vortech or Procharger, not a Paxton.

Valiantone: Where did you find the brackets?

I am running a procharger P1SC on my duster, same style super charger as the paxton. Looks like a good setup you got there, do you have a tensioner pulley for it as well. Looks like thats all you need for the brackets and pulleys and your set. What motor are you planning on putting this on? 4bbl, 2bbl? specs?

there are some pictures at www.thesuperchargerstore.com in the photo gallery of my car as well as another slant 6 valiant to give you an idea of setup

Mr.Norm's used to sell Paxton charged 340 Demons back in the day. Some Thunderbirds came with them back in '56-57(?) Studebakers too!

The are not a blow through like the above vender. The carb goes in a pressurzed box. Brass floats will crush under the pressure.

The supercharger store does have a complete set up sans carb ($650 or so)

That's about all I can remember. Maybe try on Moparts?

Ya, the T-bird ones were recalled by the dealer. So if you ignored the letter you have a very valuable car. The Studes were on the Golden Hawks. A Silver Hawk was the same car, less the gold trim and blower.

Hi ValiantOne,
I am in the process (a very drawn out process) of installing a Vortec blower on my 64 Dart. If you have brackets and pulleys that work, you are in good shape. Self oiled units are a little easier so thats good for you. You will need a carb that will take the 5-6lbs of boost the Paxton will deliver. There are guys who can prep a carb for you, you can buy a Demon BT (Blow through) carb or put an enclosure around the whole carb. Fuel pressure is another issue. A boost referenced fuel pump will work or you can go old school and run a line from the compressor side of the inlet pipe to the vent hole on your stock mechanical pump. One thing is for sure, a lot of tuning to get it right will be needed.
Well worth the effort in my opinion. Best of luck!

Charrlie I got the brackets from the same fellow I bought my car from. Apparently he bought them from the guy who fabbed them.

What I do know about my engine specs is here. Haven't updated it in a while though

I don't have the tensioner yet, and of course the supercharger itself. I am told the bracket is for an SC series unit. Of course there were several and I have no idea which suits my needs.

This is ALL brand new, so I am trying to gather as much info and learn as much as I can.

Thank you for the link!

Andy, thanks that is exactly the type of stuff i am lookin' for. I had no idea that a carb had to be set up for sc use. But I guess that makes sense when I think about it.

Also to the fuel pump mod. I have never heard of it. These are the things I am trying to lean before I go buying a unit (probably the wrong one) and bolt stuff up!

Will likely be a long process for me, just like yours.
