1889750 was the first-year (1960) 170 slant-6 distributor. |

thanks any difference in a 170 and a 225 distributor,, in other words, would this work in a 225,, I thought about cleaning it up and just keeping it around as a back up |

Different advance curves. 1960 225 distributor was 2095 270.Quote: would this work in a 225
Yes, all slant-6 distributors are physically interchangeable.

Been accumulation a lot of part to make this old slant go,, as a first step and also just for the fun of it, put in this 1960 points distributor as the first change . Rounded up a new set of points then stripped out the Lean Burn wiring and using the original coil put the points distributor in.Guess the old Lean Burn was Really Burnt. With the Lean Burn system, winding the motor out to much above 3500 RPM resulted in a lot of thrashing but not much go,,, with the 60's points distributor I can really feel the motor pull up to 4500 rpm,, not fast by any stretch, but it does accelerate. Did the swap about a month ago, fuel milage is about the same, starts good, idle is smoother,, biggest difference is a bit more power up through the gears. |
