Your answer lies somewhere in the transmission section of the forum.

A quick search yielded these threads:

If you can't find it in those try different key words.

I wish I knew the answer for you.

EDIT: I thought I could link the search results for you. Oh well, there is the page to do your searching!

Crank sizes changed in 67. When the cranks went to cast in 81 the register stayed the same.

You may be refering to the fact, that the small bore in the end of the crank, may not be finish machined for a pilot bearing. Not a big deal, NAPA sells a "problem solver" pilot bushing, (slightly smaller OD), also I understand you can use the pilot bearing from a late model V-6 or V-8, I think from a late 90's.

It should be, but as mentioned above, the rear end of the crankshaft is bored out to accept the torque converter hub and may not be bored deeply enough to allow the A-833's input shaft to slide all the way in. IF this is the case, you can shorten the input shaft end and use the modern roller bearing type input shaft sleeve, which fits right into the toque converter hub bore on the back of the crankshaft.

My '77 /6 accepted my '80 A-883 without any issues.

I would say you have a really good chance of it working without a hitch. BUT if it doesnt its can still made to work without any major problem. Cutting the shaft is no worse than putting in a trans or engine. So go for it.

Post subject:  bushing

I agree with 66 cuda,I have 8 69-73 model year (forged crank) engines. All were removed from auto trans cars, all of them were machined for a stick trans, and even had the bushing installed! In the very unlikely chance that you do get in a bind,Mopar action june 1999 had the articule In the pink is describing. :D
