which iron 2 barrel intake works best for 1/4 mile racing with the stock carter carb?

There were only 2 different iron 2v manifolds in the US. The super six and the export/marine. They are basically the same thing. So it doesn't matter.

Yes I have read that also but unless you have tested them all how do you know? There are alot of differant castings to choose from......

Castings are differant for each form, meaning you get what you get it's not exact.. Get a manifold and use it then find a differant one and use it compare notes and then you will have an answer that may fit your needs. You need to put in foot work for a question like that, way to general and vage.

Phil, like was mentioned, I think you will have to test each "legal" manifold. Posibly a flow bench would make it easier. When I ran in "stock" a good example would be the carb. I tried many "correct" carbs, and did have one carb, that was about a tenth of a second quicker then any of the others (still have that carb on the shelf).

The question is vague because Dan kept deleting it and telling me I was cross posting. I was just wondering if anyone had compared a couple intakes and found a gain with a certain one. once I have a pile of them to test I'll rent mission raceway for a day and let you guy's know what I find. A few guy's have offered up the 595's but I'm still looking for the other two mentioned in the parts wanted post. Thanks to those that are being helpful.

Marvetz, the question in this thread is vague 'cause you wrote it vaguely, not 'cause I deleted your crossposted want ad.

I don't know if there is a cross sectional difference in the two intakes mentioned. I thought they were the same dimensionally. For the Marine application, is there EGR?

There must be some kind of differance or mopar wouldn't have used so many casting numbers. The 595 intakes seem to be pretty common but nobody has offered up one of the other 2 for me to test. I'm hoping to have three or four to test in the next 2 weeks and I'll post the results if anybody is interested.

Either intake it wont matter. If this is a street car your tune up and exhust will make more difference than the intake manifold been there done that. Trust me and other Slanters . Thanks Ron Parker :D

I'd bet Mike has had some on the flow bench in his shop.

Possum, I'm betting it's for his stocker and it just might make a difference.

Ron,

This is for Phil's "Wagons of Steel" race car. Phil was looking for 4095223, 4104595 and 4104578.

Phil,

I would be interested in your results. I would think the aluminum P#459115 two barrel manifold might give you the best times. On my truck aluminum one barrel it warms up quicker and pulls harder. The cast iron always felt flat until it warmed up.

As an aside, I got the torsion bars installed today and front end aligned. My nose is 2.5" higher now with the adjuster bolts just flush with the bottom of the arms. Wow! what a difference! and the weight shift is great! Thanks so much for your generosity! :D :D :D It is like driving a totally different car!

It was no problem ted, I'm always happy to help a fellow mopar guy out.

Phil, I would bet that you will find some amount of difference between intakes with the same number too.

There was just a huge discussion on the S/SS board about how many different brand new stock intakes Sorenson had to go through to find a really good one for his 427. :D
