Has anyone ever rebuilt one of these? And how hard is it to do? My only other option would be to buy a "new" one from an auto parts store for $120, and I dont really want to do that. |

While I've never rebuilt one, but I have adjusted out excessive play in 2 old ones with excellent results. I've also replaced the sector shaft seal in a couple of Mopars - the factory trick of removing the snap rings and blowing them out rather than getting the oddball tool worked great - I just followed the FSM. If you box is just loose or leaking, maybe that would solve the problem. |

I seem to recall that you can get a power steering box for a diplomat that's close ratio- a 'cop box'. Sounds better with a Blues Brothers accent. |

Cop steering boxes have more road feel and were selectively assembled, but are the same 16:1 ratio as any other passenger car box. |
