Post subject:  100 or 150

does anybody know what the deal is with the numerical designation for the Dodge pickups. What year did they change from the 100 to the 150 designations. My W pickup says 150 on the side of the fender but it tis a 1979 truck. Does this sound correct.for some reason I thought it should be a 100. Are the 150 a "heavier suspension" truck?
Here are the specs for the truck:Rearend-9 1/4. Trans:NP435.
Engine:slant with 1 bbl. Front end:dana 44
Dont know what the transfer case is.

Yep...that sums up the 150 over a 100... "D" is a 2wd, and the "W" designation is a 4x4...

Back in the "old" days Detroit got around having to put cats on the trucks by making a 5/8th's ton model. 75-78 the 150, 250, and 350's were exempt. The 100's had them. By 79 they all had them.
