I'm new to posting messages in this forum and am in desperate need of help. I rebuilt my slant six 225 a few years ago using the Hot Rod slant sickness article. Shaved head, Clifford torque monster cam, oversized valves, heavy duty springs, Hyperpack, headers and a 4bbl, 500cfm edelbrock. What a difference from the original 1 bbl. I had the transmission rebuilt last fall and the shop replaced the converter. In park and neutral the engine idles in the 800rpm range (smooth) however when i put her in gear she lopes about 150 to 200 rpm from the initial 800 rpm. Could this be caused by the wrong torque converter being installed by the shop or are these just caracterisics of the radical cam. I dont recall the engine loping before the tranny rebuild. http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_imag ... medium.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_imag ... medium.jpg

Yes, you need a higher stall converter, not a stock converter. Then it will be fine again.

Nice work on your car and engine! and welcome to the site. :D

Would you have any ideas as to which torque converter would be best suited to my application. I've read up a bit on this but it still way beyond my understanding.
thanks in advance
By the way,its an A904, rebuilt to stock specs. The shop that did it since went under.I was hoping to find something from Summit or Mancini racing

You really cant buy a good converter from either source. They are set up for V8's. You need a custom converter. There are a number of good converter manufactures out there. I would get with Slantzilla (Dennis) and get his reccomendation.
