your stock cable should be fine, is the longer cable binding when the peddle is pushed to the floor?

What V8 cable are you using? My original slant six cable ('67 Barracuda, 1 bbl) was way too long. I ordered a cable from http://www.imperialservices.net intended for a 68-73 A-eng (#IS-531). It was still a tad long, but it works great. Sorry, I don't have the measurement handy. The folks at Imperial Services might be able to tell you - their number is 989/652-6309. Good luck!

i purchaced another cable from a later volare with super six setup and its the same length as the 318 cable... so here is my next question is it possible that from my carb to the firewall to the pedal is it a shorter distance than other cars.. this is what i have...... 1974 dodge dart custom 4dr manual with a 198! is there difernces from the carb to the firewall than most other cars.... i can make it work with the other cables however it may be a harder pedal to operate... anyone have any suggestions...

I dont think that that measurement would change. Especially in a /6 A-body car. All 67-76 a bodies should measure the same. [not accounting for manufacturing tolerances, of course].
Check out the Dodge minivan section next time your at the salvage yard, they used cable linkages of various lengths depending on the engine used and year. Bring tape measure. (just a sugg.)
