OK....let's just say I wanted to run my 64 A100 pickup with 225 /6 in stock, what class would I be running and what kind of ET would I be shooting at? The truck weighs 2150 from the factory, would I be able to run at that weight? I tried looking up the class system on NHRA.com, but got very confused. That says alot considering I ran comp. eliminator for a good while. Any light that can be shed would be helpful.

A 1964 225 motor is not a very good choice for stock elimiator. With a one barrel carb and 145HP nominal rating it does not have the potential of the later super six. All the classes above V are dominated by various V8 combinations that would be hard to equal. On the other hand if your A100 really weighs 2150# it would be a great basis for a bracket car.

Sorry, your truck is not listed in the class guide. It's probably too old to be considered.

However, the weight you have listed would put you at a factor of 14.82 pounds per HP, and that would be an impossible nut to crack with a 1 bbl motor. :(

The average one barrel cars can run about .40 under if you build them right but they aren't as consistant as the 2 barrel. the 2 barrel cars are good for .60 under as an average. if you want to go alot faster the cost goes way up.

Thanks guys.....and I thought Comp. Eliminator was tough!.....I wonder how the NHRA comes up with 145 Hp when the US Navy plate on the dash says 88 HP......it must be like the shifting weight breaks in Comp.....I think I'll just stay retired......
I do want all of you to know what respect I have for you......fighting against the politics and having to make Hp within such stringent rules......it's pretty amazing.......good luck to all

I haven't weighed the truck yet, but the data plate on the dash for the US Navy says Vehical Wt. 2150 pounds. If you think about it, there is nothing to the truck. No frame, nothing but engine, trans, rear and sheet metal. The bad part is that the only weight over the rear end is the rear end. Without moving the motor back, it would be real hard to get it hooked up. Although a /6 mounted just behind the front of the bed with a solid rear might make some interesting moves as an altered. But mine is too pristeen to cut up. Even though i have a narrowed 9" and slicks......oh, better stop thinking.
Thanks
