Hi all, I work on Duster '71 restoration project. Maybe someone could help me to identify my /6 and transmissions. 1. Slant six is taken out of Dodge B250, this engine was not original in this car. Block number is milled out i think. Just some digits: F, 530-12, 1238, AAWJ. Head: 4104362. What is the engine and parameters? Seller told that it is 225 but nothing more. 2. Automatic trans for this /6 (came with engine from b250). Seller told it is 727. Some numbers on it: PK405311 6339 6546, 188-1 3. Originally in Duster was manual transmission (a903 i think). Numbers: 3410995, 05102, 9-22-70, c-99224-2 4. I want to put this /6 with manual trans into '71 Duster, what must be changed (like oil pan is totaly different)? Or if i put it with 727, what must be done (727 is much longer than 903). Any differences dodge or plymouth /6 mounts? There are some pictures: http://public.fotki.com/bfds/slant6/ Any info would help. Thank's in advance! |

Sla Your engine should work with minimum changes. You will need the oil pan and pickup from your Dusters engine. Some of the brackets for your accessorys may be different. You will need a pilot bearing in the crank of the new engine for the manual trans. Mounts are the same between Plymouth and Dodge. Frank |

Sla On our main page is an Articles Section that has block and head cast numbers. That may help. Frank |

might be missing a number on the trans ID. 4058311 is a '79 727 truck trans with lock-up converter. If this is the case,I would not use it,because of two reasons:a 727 is much heavier than needed for a slant6 car,and 78and 79 were the first two years for lock-up transmissions. They had lots of drivability and relability problems that wern't solved for several years.I,d leave it as a stick car unless you realy want an automatic.A 4-speed would be a great swap |
