| Post subject: | 7.25 Sure grip part? |
Hi there, I have 65 barracuda. I am rebuilding the rear end, 7.25 Sure grip differential. Look like it needs 4 spider gears and 2 side gears. Does anyone know where these part can be bought? any help would be appreciated. Thank again, Andy. |

part number 2404419 Silke's AutoParts in Jacksonville, Fl shows 4 in stock. 1-904-737-8600. I have delt with him and think his prices are reasonable. Collector Auto Supply, Oroville, Wa. shows 22 in stock, 1-800-414-4462. I have never delt with them, as I thought they were too pricey. |

Thank you so very much, I have another question, since I disassembly the differential for replacing spider&side gears, what part do you recommend to replace by the time? Should it be suregrip clutch plates, pinion shaft, bearing...? and what is the "part number" for these part? Thank again, |

Collector Auto Supply, shows 22 of the clutch packs. Wait till you see the price. I called them about a year ago, and almost went through the floor. Could not locate any of the shafts. But that does not mean there are none to be had. These are sources that I know to check. Someone may have their own private stash. I run 7 1/4 rears, and I have some parts in stock for my own use (read not for sale). Post on other forums, and watch e-bay. The last set of clutches, I bought, came from e-bay, and I got lucky, as I was the only bidder, and got them for $29.95. |

Do you know if the spider gears and side gears (for Sure Grip Unit) is the same part for 67 Barracuda and 65 Barracuda ? |

Thank Charrlie,
There are two different SG units. The clutch type and the cone type. All the 7 1/4 clutch type use the same parts (two side gears, and 4 spiders), so if both the 65 and the 67 are the original units (clutch type) they are the same. I don't remember what year they changed to the cone type, but it was the in the '70's. I don't know if any SG parts interchange between the two types, but I don't think so, since the cone type only have 2 spider gears.

andy, just keep searching and posting on mopar chatrooms . if you are in a hurry to put it back together , you may have to get a good used suregrip and pull the shafts out of it. ronnie |
