OK. I used the search function but no dice. How do I remove the side view mirror from the housing so I can tighten the ball and socket. I know I read how somewhere here but alas I can not find the post.

Thanks Phil

There is a flat spring washer that holds it in place-- like a snap ring with out the holes to pry apart(it is the diameter of the mirror)
look closely at the face of the glass you will see it-- get that out with out breaking the glass-- & then you can tighten up the mirror.
good luck!! Lawrence

Unfortunately not all mirrors have that "snap ring". Some of the mirrors are glued in. If it's glued good luck getting it out without breaking the glass. replacement glass for the smaller mirrors is hard to find also. (I'm still looking)

I actually have both kinds. I had a new mirror cut locally it was like $12.

its the snap ring kind that need tightening

Well that's the easy fix. I'll have to check for a local place to do that.
