Sorry, it's not even close. Port face and port arrangement is different. No manifolds or headers interchange for this reason.Quote: are there any other parts like the headers or anything else that might interchange
The Jeep 4.0 and older I6 shares nothing with the slant except that the extended tip spark plugs used in many 4.0s fit the '74 and older slants just fine. No moving parts interchange. No castings that I can think of interchange. Only incidental small parts have a chance of interchange.
alrighty thanks for any info here |

The motor oil and the gasoline interchange readily. |

maybe youre thinking of the inline amc engines that were the predecessors to the jeep 4.0? iirc some of the jeep parts can be made to work with the amc stuff. |

I've owned both the Dodge 225ci /6 and the AMC 258ci I-6 (almost identical to the later 4.0L) and to the best of my knowledge, nothing much interchanges except possibly also the temp & oil senders and that which has already been noted. The AMC produced good torque and was very good and very reliable in my '73 Hornet. I really liked that car, but it just fell to pieces up in the rustbelt. (My wife hated its looks and was glad I don't have a Hornet anymore.) AMC tended to borrow parts from the big 3 with a few exceptions. My AMC charging system was an very oddball Motorola that always tended to give problems; the starter and starter relay were Ford. The point-type distributor was GM. The carb was a Holley economaster replacement that did very well (I once read that at that time the single biggest cause of wasted gas in the US were AMC sunken carb floats). I'm pretty sure AMC used a modified Torqueflight (TorqueCommand?) at the time, but I seem to remember that it had a different bolt pattern. |

im not really awake right now (woke up after taking some cold meds) but i was saying the jeep stuff can go on an amc engine, not that amc stuff can go on a slant, although i did keep my accell aftermarket coil i had in the hornet and put it in the dart recently AMC tended to borrow parts from the big 3 with a few exceptions.
