i am finally getting around to swapping a low mileage slant from a 75 auto trans duster into my 87 dodge half ton with an ever faithful but tired high mileage slant. The truck is equipped with an 8330D After using the search function i believe all i need to do to make this work is to: 1. Use the oil pan and the pickup tube into the new motor 2. Get some sort of pilot bushing for the end of the crank on the Duster motor to mate with the 833 My questions: Is there anything else i need to do? Does anybody know how / where to find the bushing or the part number for this? Any other advice or pointers would also be greatly appreciated Thanks Dean |

I'd put money on the need to swap intake manifolds. I suspect there are not enough vacuum and sensor ports in the older manifold. There are extra sensors in the head as well that your 75 motor may not have. |

thanks for the suggestion but i have long ago solved all the lean burn problems by retrofitting a mopar electronic ignigition. All the sensors and stuff have been removed. |

Assuming both engines run and are complete, all you need to do is swap long blocks. For your pilot bearing, make sure the crank is drilled for the input. Use the late-model pilot bearing. Costs about 10 bucks, has a nice needle bearing and relocates the bearing further down you input shaft where there should be no previous wear. Sorry, don't have a part number. A quick web search should do it. -James |
