| Post subject: | slant six swap. |
Hello. I have some questions regarding swapping a slant six. I have a 1975 Dart with lots of miles on it and the original slant six is tired. I also own a 1969 Valiant 100 with 58,000 miles on it and is going throuugh a small block swap. The six in the Valiant says super six on the air cleaner ( IT IS A 1 BBL. ). I have been doing some homework on the 225 and figure the 69 motor to be at about 110 hp. I also understand that the slant went through a tail spin in hp going from the 110 range to the 80 hp range between 73 and 76 if I did the math right? i figure the 110 hp motor with the addition of a 2 bbl super six setup and a set of splitfire plugs and wires should give me about 45 more hp than the 75 motor had and should make my Dart fly. The questions are besides the different K frame is there any other surprises in store on this swap and how can I tell if this is a 225 motor and not a 170? Is there any marks on the motor to tell me the size? miehle@msn.com |

For engine size, also check the length of the short water pump hose. A 225 or 198 has a 3" hose, the 170 has a 2" hose. Chuck Quote:
