OK folks, this the last Eastern Slant 6 race coming up on October 9-11 at Mountain Park Dragway in Clay City, KY. mpdragway.com The Slant 6 race will be held on Saturday, with test'n'tune Friday night and more bracket racing on Sunday. This will be sponsored again by Southern Chemical and Textiles and the purse will be at least $800, probably more like $1000. This is a down home 1/4 mile track and it's fast, usually faster this time of year with the cooler temps. Many of us have run fastest times for our cars at Clay City. This is part of the Mopar Southern Classic, which this track has put on (car show, swap meet, exhibition drag cars) for many years. Camping is allowed at the track, and there is plenty of grassy pit area. We usually pit under the big shady oak trees. So far, we have these folks coming: Ron Parker Norm+Elaine Foster Ron+Kay Hamby Lou Madsen Probably: Meril+Ella Bruner Larry+Ellen Chesney Rodney Hargis + Alanna Hopper Seymour Pederson Brian Mimken Maybe: Mark+Sara Charapich Derrick Daugherty Frank+Cinda Brent Who else is in??? See you there, Lou |

Gotcha, Frank. News flash... Apparently Clay City is also putting up $$ for winners. It appears the total purse will be over $1600, a record for this event and any event this year. We will pay down to the 1st round winners at least, and most likely cover entry fees for everyone. Sounds like some Midwesterners might want to get off their tractors/movie theaters/sausage stands, and make this race too!! Lou |

I can't make it, but I will put up a $100 bounty on Possum. Anyone who beats him gets it, if he wins the race he gets it. |
